CEO & Managing Director, Butterfly Group

A seasoned chief executive who built a family enterprise into a multi-division conglomerate — and now brings that 30-year operating record to U.S. boards, leadership teams, and organizations navigating complexity.
Mustafizur Rahman Shazid is the CEO & Managing Director of Butterfly Group, a Bangladesh-based consumer electronics manufacturing and retail conglomerate founded by his father. Over three decades, he has led the organization through successive transformations — from a family business to an entity on the cusp of publicly listed enterprise — building deep expertise in operational excellence, organizational scaling, digital transformation, and emerging market strategy.
Educated at four of the world's foremost institutions — IIT Madras (B.Tech, Aerospace Engineering), IBA Dhaka (MBA), Wharton School (Global Management Program), and Harvard Business School (Owner/President Management) — Shazid brings a rare combination of engineering precision, business acumen, and executive leadership to every engagement.
He has served as a board director of a DSE-listed company and as an Executive Committee Member of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Now permanently based in Houston, Texas, he is available to serve U.S. boards and leadership teams as a corporate director, advisory board member, or senior strategic advisor — particularly in manufacturing, retail, and private equity-backed turnaround contexts.
Shazid brings a perspective that is rare on U.S. boards: the experience of a sitting chief executive who has operated at the intersection of manufacturing, retail, and emerging markets for over three decades. He offers boards and leadership teams direct, unvarnished insight grounded in real operational accountability — not consulting abstraction.
